Cotswold Breakfast – Friday 16th February 2018
Topic – “Everything I ever learned about a Christian approach to business I got from the Japanese!”
This month Harvey Leach will be joining us to reflect on his experiences in the late 80s and early 90s as we started to look at Japanese methods and I found much that seemed more in tune with what I found Jesus teaching about leadership there than I had experienced in ‘typical’ British management up to that time.
Consider the following “British industry has been transformed since the late 1980s, largely through its study of the manufacturing practices of the Japanese. Behind ‘techniques’ like lean manufacturing, kaizen and so on lies an approach to people that seems to reflect biblical teaching on leadership far more than some traditional western management models. Based on his automotive industry and consultancy career, Harvey will unpack some of these lessons and reflects on how we might apply these to our leadership.”
Harvey Leach is a Principal Consultant with The Consultancy Company, based on Long Hanborough, where he has helped a variety of private and public sector organisations find ways of working that provide products and services that meet customer needs better, are produced more quickly and at lower cost through engaging staff in the process improvement. Prior to that he spent 27 years with Rover Group / BMW Group in a variety of roles. He is passionate about faith impacting business to better reflect the kingdom of God.
Hope to see you there, Tim
